ABSTRACT* The Power Project for Cyprus will help finance additions to its power system consisting of a new 60 MW steam power station at Moni and extensions and reinforcements of the transmission and distribution systems, including connections to about 200 villages which now do not have a supply of electricity. The project consists of: (a) the construction of a new 60 IMW steam power station at Moni, (b) the extension of the existing 66 KV transmission system, (c) the extension and reinforcement of the existing distribution system. The project forms an important part of the Government's Five-Year Program of Economic Development and it is in fact one of the few parts of the Program for which planning is reasonably complete. Additional electricity supply is clearly necessary to maintain a sound economic growth in Cyprus

Το Έργο δύναμης για Κύπρος θα συμβάλει στη χρηματοδότηση προσθήκες στο σύστημα εξουσίας της, που αποτελείται από ένα νέο 60 MW σταθμού παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας ατμού στη Μονή και επεκτάσεις και ενισχύσεις των δικτύων μεταφοράς και διανομής, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των συνδέσεων με περίπου 200 χωριά που τώρα δεν έχουν παροχή ηλεκτρικού ρεύματος . Το έργο αποτελείται από: (α) η κατασκευή ενός νέου 60 IMW ατμού σταθμού παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας στη Μονή, (β) η επέκταση του υπάρχοντος συστήματος μετάδοσης 66 KV, (γ) η επέκταση και ενίσχυση του υφιστάμενου συστήματος διανομής. Το έργο αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό μέρος του πενταετούς προγράμματος της κυβέρνησης της Οικονομικής Ανάπτυξης και είναι στην πραγματικότητα ένα από τα λίγα μέρη του Προγράμματος για τις οποίες ο σχεδιασμός είναι αρκετά πλήρης. Πρόσθετη παροχή ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας είναι σαφώς απαραίτητη για τη διατήρηση ενός υγιούς οικονομικής ανάπτυξης στην Κύπρος
